Camden Creative Studios

Project Summary

Camden Creative Studios at Narellan Library is a new facility that combines traditional and digital arts to provide education, new skills and greater opportunities for creative expression to people of all ages, all backgrounds and all abilities in the Camden area. Music and sound, multimedia and short film, graphic design, photography and performance all form a rich contemporary palette of colours describing Camden’s cultural development today. Inclusiveness, accessibility and choice combine with resourcefulness and creative partnerships to produce a value-added outcome. In a very short space of time, both a solid track-record of activities and educational workshops and training as well as a significant body of high quality work bear witness to the dynamo that the Studio has become.

"Cities must trade in cultural cringe for a growing sense of confidence in our distinctiveness. They must try to be somewhere, not anywhere in the extended global sprawl of electronic suburbia. Cities must wilfully believe that the unique combination of events that may fuse here is just as compelling as those that may fuse somewhere else. Cities need to involve their people in making and remaking their own mythology, and create something that is truly unique." Marcus Westbury
